Counselling Service

Change is the norm of life.
Some changes are healthy. Some are unhealthy or we feel unhealthy at that particular time of life.
The effects of the change depend on the nature of the change itself or our perception of it.
All of us can adapt to changes to a certain degree. Again, our ability depends on many factors.
At the same time, all of us can find difficulties at certain points.
As we are not alone, we ask for help from our parents, siblings, friends, teachers, or mentors.
But there are situations you couldn’t turn towards them for some reason, or the support they could give is not enough.

A student counsellor is another option you could try.

It is well accepted all over the world that medical students’ lives are challenging because there are more stressors to handle.

    1. Extensive curriculum
    2. Busy tight schedules
    3. Frequent multi facet assessment
    4. Changing living and learning environment frequently
    5. Lack of experience of facing failures (Medical Students are achievers as teenagers)
    6. High expectation from parents and society
    7. Continuation of economical dependency (Higher expenses to the family)

Inherent stressors of all young adults

* Becoming independent

* Finding identity in the society

* Planning future / finding partners

With all these, you may lose the balance of life.
Talk to the student counsellor. It is a confidential service.
You will find,
             listener to your thoughts,
helper to look for available solutions to your problem(s),
facilitator to work out the chosen solution.

Even though you have doubts about its effectiveness, try it.

Your decision to meet the counsellor may be the first positive step you take towards your solution.
