Faculty of Medicine Participates in Poya Day Program at Kuliyapitiya Aswedduma Sri Shasanalankara Maha Viharaya

In observance of the recent Poya day, students and staff of the Faculty of Medicine visited the Kuliyapitiya Aswedduma Sri Shasanalankara Maha Viharaya. The visit was an opportunity for our medical community to step away from their academic rigors and engage in a day of spiritual reflection and community connection.

The program, organized by the Viharaya, included several significant meritorious activities:

  • Observance of Sil: Our students joined the local devotees in a dedicated session of meditation and mindfulness, observing the Eight Precepts in the serene environment of the temple.
  • Dhamma Discussion: Participants engaged in an insightful Dhamma discussion, which provided a platform for spiritual dialogue and guidance on maintaining ethical balance in professional life.
  • Community Dansala: The faculty group also participated in the Dansala (alms-giving) held within the temple premises. This act of communal giving served as a meaningful expression of generosity, where meals were shared with the public, reinforcing the bonds of compassion and unity within the Kuliyapitiya community.

This experience served as a vital reminder of the importance of social responsibility and spiritual well-being alongside clinical and academic excellence.
