Undergraduate Psychiatry Programme

The undergraduate psychiatry programme is designed to equip medical students with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to function effectively as medical officers. Through this programme, students develop competencies in diagnosing and managing common psychiatric conditions, formulating management plans, delivering shared care, making appropriate referrals, and practicing effective communication in clinical settings. The structured curriculum integrates theoretical concepts with hands-on clinical experience.

A lecture on cultivating psychological resilience for medical school is delivered to first-year students by a member of the psychiatry department.

During their fourth and final years, students maintain a psychiatry logbook, documenting learning objectives and activities completed during clinical appointments. This logbook also allows space for reflective notes and feedback from clinical staff, fostering self-assessment and continuous improvement.
