We are thrilled to announce the inauguration of the 6th Batch of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, which took place on January 31st, 2024. Held at the prestigious Pandit Amaradewa Auditorium within our university grounds, the event marked a significant milestone in the journey of our esteemed institution.

The ceremony was honored by the esteemed presence of Senior Prof. Udith K Jayasinghe, the Vice-Chancellor of Wayamba University, who graced the occasion with his invaluable presence. Additionally, we were privileged to host Emeritus Professor Jeniffer Perera, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Colombo, as the distinguished guest of honor.

A total of 151 bright and aspiring students marked the new intake, symbolizing the continuation of our commitment to nurturing future healthcare professionals of excellence. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and determination reflected in the faces of these budding medical practitioners, ready to embark on their educational journey with zeal and dedication.

One of the most heartening aspects of the event was the presence of parents who actively participated, demonstrating their unwavering support and encouragement for their children’s pursuit of medical education. Their presence not only added warmth to the occasion but also underscored the importance of familial support in the academic and professional endeavors of our students.

As we embark on this new academic year, we are filled with a sense of optimism and excitement for the promising future that lies ahead. The Faculty of Medicine, Wayamba University, remains steadfast in its commitment to providing a nurturing and conducive learning environment, where students can thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
