Dr. C B Karunarathne assumed duties as a Probationary lecturer at the Department of Physiology.

Dr. C B Karunarathne had been a student of Ananda College, Colombo 10 and obtained his MBBS degree from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Kelaniya in 2011. He has started his career as an intern house officer in the Ministry of Health at the District General Hospital, Gampaha. Then he was posted as a Medical Officer-Blood Bank at NINDT, Maligawatta where he gained eight years of experience in the field of chronic kidney disease and transplant medicine. He developed an interest in teaching while working as the medical officer in charge of the blood bank and took the opportunity to join the Faculty of Medicine, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. His main research interests are in the field of renal physiology
