Project ‘Arunalu’ is a community service initiative by the Rotaract club of Wayamba University. This is a helping drive to the schools with low infrastructural facilities with the partnership of Dr Sanjeewa Bowatte, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Dean – Faculty of Medicine.

This project consists of several phases. Phase 01 of project ‘Arunalu’ was completed on the 22nd of November 2021 at Vilapola Primary school.

Vilapola Primary School is located in Udubaddawa, Kuliyapitiya. This school supplies education for 40 students in the area, from grade 1 to grade 5. The school lacked library books and some learning and educational materials. Our club was able to supply them with those necessities to some extent with the help of our Acting Vice-chancellor Dr Sanjeewa Bowatte.

Those necessities were,

1. Library books for students from grade 1 to grade 5

2. Steel cupboard

3. Casset recorder

4. Book Racks

5. Whiteboards

6. A computer with a computer table

7. Magazine Holders

We were able to supply them with library books valued at Rs.14787, 4 whiteboards, A steel cupboard, 2 book racks and a cassette recorder. Around Rs.85,000 were spent on this project.
