Staff Development Workshop – 01 on Maintaining A Quality Standard Laboratory Setup at UOP

The medical faculty staff development committee hosted a workshop for the newly appointed junior staff and the other laboratory staff members, about Tissue processing for museum specimens and the preparation of museum specimen jars. This was held as a one-day workshop on March 09, 2022, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya. The following valuable sessions were led by the following
resource experts at the workshop.

Preparation of museum specimen – Dr. (Mrs) H. Amaratunga (Head/Anatomy/UOP)

Sample collection and fixation – Mr A G Gamini Wijerathne (STO)

Preparation of museum Jars – Mr.WMWC Wijenayake (TO)

This would be more beneficial for our new laboratory staff to produce good quality museum specimen jars to hold prosected specimens for department Anatomy, Parasitology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine etc.
